Wear a White Dress, Bring Snacks, and a Change of Clothes for the Long Ceremony
As a previous ritual chair for my sorority, I know how special and sacred initiation is to each member. As a new member, you should expect to wear a dress usually white and to bring snacks or a change of clothes for after. Initiation is usually a very long ceremony that is kept private by all organizations to prepare for a long day of bonding and sisterhood.

4 Things to Expect
During initiation, you can expect:
C- Connection: The women that are selected to complete initiation become your sorority sisters that you not only have this shared experience with but also go on to share other life milestones.
O-Overwhelmed: At times it will be hard to balance it all and you will feel overwhelmed. That is a normal feeling, and it is okay, but this is an opportunity to lean on your sorority sisters as this is a shared feeling.
R- Responsibility: You are not on this journey alone. You have a responsibility to yourself and, most importantly, your sisters. If one of your sisters is behind, then you all are behind. You all must lean on each other as you are now “your sister's keeper.”
E- Education: Class is in session and you are in the front seat. After doing your initial research, during initiation, you will take that learning several layers deeper as you learn from existing members and other distinguished members that uphold the legacy of that organization and strive to pay it forward by sharing that knowledge with you.

4 Tips to Make the Most of Your Initiation
1. Be aware of your surroundings It is important to be aware of your surroundings at all times while in a sorority chapter house. The house may be small, and there may be more people than you are used to, so be aware of your surroundings and who is around you.
2. Dress to impress When you attend your initiation ceremony, make sure you are dressed to impress. We highly recommend wearing something formal and dressy. This will show that you have put some effort into your appearance and that you are serious about joining the sorority.
3. Be prepared to do some work Since becoming an initiated member of a sorority entails some work, be prepared to put in some effort. You will be asked to participate in various activities and events, and you will be expected to be a good role model for new members.
4. Be prepared to have a good time Finally, be prepared to have a good time at your initiation ceremony. The atmosphere will be fun and exciting, and you will be able to make new friends.
