You have a great personality, and it can shine through in your first impression before you even say a word. Channeling your inner self through what you choose to wear can help give you the confidence you need to bring your best self to the table all day.
You may think that is fine for after-hours going out with friends, but it can also be applicable to your workplace. You can dress in a professional manner while still bringing in the spark that makes you you.
Here are some easy ways you can up your business-wear into business-wow.
- Add a pop of color. A lot of professional outfits are typically neutral and bland. You can add a pop of color to your outfit by throwing on a colored blouse under your blazer or slipping into a bright pair of pumps. A scarf or other accessory can also allow you to add spark to an otherwise plain outfit.
- Add a fun pattern. Just like a splash of color can elevate your look, a subtle pattern can, too. Choose only one portion of your outfit to reflect the pattern, while keeping the others solid and neutral. A flowing, patterned blouse tucked into a plain pencil skirt is flattering, as is a solid top with patterned trousers.
- Refresh your closet. One way to elevate your professional look is to make sure the items in your closet still look fresh. You may have a favorite power suit, but it may be time to retire and replace it if it is showing signs of wear. Spacing out buying the occasional professional wardrobe item can help you prolong your wardrobe so you don't need to replace everything at the same time.
- Tailor your clothes. Clothes that hug you in all the right places are priceless. Your contours are beautiful, and you should show them off. Tailoring your professional wardrobe may seem like a large expense, but it pays off to have your clothes look like they are made just for you.
- Pick the blazer. If you're torn between a cardigan or a blazer, choose the blazer every time. A cardigan can quickly look outdated and unflattering, but a nice tailored blazer will do you all the favors. You can go for something trendy (right now that would be a long, fitted blazer) or you can go with a classic that you can be sure will stay in style longer.
- Up your accessory game. When it comes to bags, a structured, neutral bag can enhance your everyday office look. Backpacks or slouchy, worn bags can drag down an otherwise fantastic outfit. Necklaces that are simple and understated make the biggest difference, and pearls can bring any professional outfit a step up.

Trouser up. Gone are the days of oddly shaped professional pants for women being the only option in a work setting. Trousers can come in many different styles and fits to help you feel your best. Here's a quick breakdown if you're not sure where to start:
- High-waisted trousers. These are a great choice for curvy women, as they can accentuate your shape.
- Classic trousers. If your figure is straighter, a classic pair of trousers might be most flattering for you.
- Drawstring trousers. These look great on nearly everyone. Go try on a pair!
- Play with your makeup. A nice red lipstick can change how an entire outfit looks. Eyeliner can make quite a pop, too. Online tutorials are great places to start if you aren't confident in your eyeliner game.
- Try a wrap dress. Wrap dresses are flattering and professional looking for nearly every figure. Pair it with a pump and you will be unstoppable.
- Confidence. When you look good, you feel good, and you do good. Go into the office looking your best, and let your confidence shine. It is one of the most attractive parts of your whole look.
While these tips can help you get started on your journey to bring out your personality in your professional attire, do not let this list confine you. Experiment. Play with the patterns or the colors. Ultimately, the goal is to let everyone see on the outside what you have on the inside, and only you can determine what that looks like for you.
As a young sorority sister, I was unimpressed by the ill-fitting, oversized t-shirts that were our only options for Greek wear. That’s why I founded LNO Greek. I wanted to rep my sisterhood with fun, stylish DST apparel, but I didn't feel like the available products reflected my style and personality. I see the same problem with a lot of the bland women’s workwear options today. Remember that whether you are repping your sorority or your office, you do not have to compromise on repping your uniquely beautiful personality while doing so.
