For many new sorors, the first paraphernalia you are given to represent your new sorority is a shapeless and generic men’s cut t-shirt. You will have plenty of chances throughout the years to fill your wardrobe with sorority shirts that actually fit your personality, but until then, you can still wear your boxy tee in a few different ways that let your style shine.
Here are seven ways you can style a generic sorority t-shirt to give your outfit more personality and life.
Monochromatic.
Whatever color the tee comes in, embrace it. Head to toe, a monochromatic look is trendy and will make your tee look like it is part of a well-coordinated outfit. When putting together a monochromatic outfit, don’t get fixated on matching the exact colors and fabrics. Mixing it up, even throwing in a pattern, can give your look more dimension. Keep the colors in the same tone family, and you can make your t-shirt look fly.
Athletic.
Tees are the base of athletic attire. Pair your sorority tee with some leggings, joggers, or shorts, put your hair in a sporty updo, and finish off the look with some sneakers. An athletic jacket can be easily added on top if you need some layering. As an added bonus, this look will not only be attractive, it will be comfortable, too.
Faux Crop.
Love the crop top look but don’t want to commit an entire tee to the cause? You can create a faux crop. The internet has multiple hacks to help you get the desired look without cutting any fabric or sewing a single stitch. Essentially, you will want to tuck the shirt up underneath itself to the desired length, and then in the back, you will twist the fabric and tuck it underneath your bra. If you are committed to the faux crop life, you can buy bands that go underneath any t-shirt to tuck the bottom half of your shirt in.
Color Pop.
Pick a color that will compliment your sorority tee, and then add pops of that color throughout the rest of your outfit. You can add the color through jewelry, footwear, patches on your pants, hair accessories, nail color, make-up, or all of the above.
